Perseverance

On a recent trip to California, I was fortunate enough to visit this park over looking the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge. I had watched specials on the "Building of the Golden Gate" before, and I have always been amazed by the construction technology and techniques that were required to achieve such a masterpiece. What I wasn't prepared for though, was being totally impressed by a single simple tree. As you can see, this tree stands totally alone. There is a bit a brush around, but no trees. What you can't see or feel is the tremendous cold wind that sweeps over the rise and trys to blow that tree off the mountain. I don't know what kind of tree it is, how it got there or how long it's been there, but it has my total respect and admiration. I can't even imagine what its taken to stand out there, alone, exposed, unprotected and holding its ground all these years. I do know though, that the next time I feel that way, I'm going to think about that tree.
