Y'know, you'd think that I'd get tired of thinking about what life's like and just get on with living it. Well, ordinarily that would be the case. Except when you have lost you starboard engine and the winds blasting in over the starboard bow and a storm is coming. So now a 30 minute trip takes 90 minutes and you've got a lot of time on your hands. So anyway, here goes.
Life is like a boat ride. You are the boat and your location is your life's goals. If you don't have enough fuel (energy) you'll never get there. If your equipment (body) breaks down, you'll never get there. You will certainly end up somewhere, even if you are just drifting, but it probably won't be where you want it to be. Even if you have good equipment, lots of fuel and a map (plan), you are still subject to the wind and waves (delays, people in your life, forces beyond your control). They may help carry you towards your goal, but probably not. You may have to use a lot more fuel and take a lot more time to overcome that wind or those waves that are trying to push you off course. I guess even those "destined" to be something or somewhere don't get a guarantee on how easy it will be, how long it will take, or how straight their path will be. What does seem certain is that if you can keep the destination in sight, keep you equipment running well and put in enough energy, you will reach your destination (goal).
